Your credit reports, explained

Three reports, free every week.

5 min read

A credit report is a record of how you've used credit: accounts, balances, payment history and some public records. The three nationwide credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, each keep one.

Get them free

You can get free reports from all three bureaus every week at AnnualCreditReport.com, the official site. Be wary of lookalike sites.

What's on them

  • Your name, addresses and employers
  • Credit accounts, limits, balances and payment history
  • Collections and some public records
  • Inquiries: who has checked your credit

What isn't

Your income, bank balances or credit score. Scores are calculated from the report.
