Hi there,
This issue's basic: your credit reports
You have three credit reports, one each from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. They can differ, because not every lender reports to all three. You can get all of them free every week at AnnualCreditReport.com, the official site.
More in Your credit reports, explained.
One thing to check this week
Pull one report and look for accounts you don't recognize, addresses you've never lived at, and late payments that weren't late. If something's wrong, disputing it is free. See Found an error on your credit report?
Reader question
"Does checking my own credit hurt my score?" No. Checking your own reports or score is a "soft" inquiry and doesn't affect your score.
